(NewsNation) — Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens is focused on ensuring Atlantans feel safe as they head to the voting booth before Election Day.

While concerns linger about the security of the election and those voting, Dickens told “Morning in America Weekend” that is a top priority in his city.

“Election security is a top concern right now, the Atlanta police department and Fulton County Police Department are working hand in hand to make sure that all polling locations are safe so that voters can feel safe as they go to the polls and leave the polls,” Dickens said.

Given the heightened rhetoric in American politics, there are worries violence and unruliness could occur once the next president is announced.

“We hope that individuals will use their best common sense to accept the results of the election, knowing that there’s very little fraud that will occur, that this is going to be a safe and secure election, but we make sure that you know, as I talk to our police chief every single morning, we’re going to do what needs to be done to keep the people of Atlanta safe,” Dickens added.

According to Decision Desk HQ, former President Donald Trump leads Vice President Kamala Harris by 2.2% in the key battleground state of Georgia.
