BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Walmart will be closed on Thanksgiving Day for the fifth year in a row, the retail giant recently announced in its holiday plans.
“Walmart stores will be closed once again on Thanksgiving Day so associates can spend the day with their families,” the company said.
In the past, Walmart was open on Thanksgiving and shoppers were able to pick up that last-minute item for their dinners. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, Walmart has closed for the holiday.

In 2020, the company decided to break the decades-long tradition and closed for Thanksgiving.
Walmart told USA Today in 2020 that stores had not closed for the holiday since the late 1980s and Christmas was the only holiday when stores closed.
Walmart has not yet released its holiday hours.
Target, ALDI, and Costco will also be closed on Thanksgiving, which falls on Nov. 28 this year.
