(NewsNation) —  X users praised the JD Vance town hall hosted by NewsNation on Thursday night, calling it “fair.”

Immediately after the town hall, NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo took a moment to highlight questions and comments from users who watched the event on X.

“Chris thank you for hosting this town hall,” one X user posted. “I love JD Vance and I appreciate that you had him on. For those that said nasty things to you, the Dems have the same opportunity, so they should get on it! Chris is equal opportunity!”

Another user said, “I’m shocked @ChrisCuomo did a COMPLETELY fair job with Vance despite not liking Trump.” Cuomo responded, “It’s about who is qualified. … I’m not in it to be popular.”

Wasn’t sure he was capable.

The political divide on X was clear, as well. One user said they “can’t choke down Vance’s lies” while another said they believe Vance’s answers were very clear, a “night and day” difference from Vice President Kamala Harris’ answers.

Vance focuses on border, affordability in NewsNation town hall

Cuomo said JD Vance is “good at answering questions the way he wants to,” but thinks Harris is “given an unfair standard.”

“I think Democrats put her in a position that was gonna set her up for scrutiny. I think she is judged more harshly than Trump is. She’s against a movement and a man a movement of grievance that is being generated, in part, on her watch,” Cuomo said.

Trump asks Vance to tell him why he’s ‘brilliant’ during town hall

NewsNation has asked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump to participate in separate town halls, but they “seek safe harbors,” Cuomo said.

“All we can do is ask, and they are foolish to pass up on NewsNation. We have an overweight independent audience. … They’re making a mistake,” Cuomo said.

A Decision Desk HQ/The Hill election forecast showed Trump with a slight lead Thursday, though polling still shows the outcome remains a toss-up.
