(NewsNation) — Former President Donald Trump is safe after gunshots were reported in his vicinity Sunday afternoon in Florida, according to his campaign.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communications director said in a release.
The campaign did not immediately provide any additional details.

A sheriff’s spokesperson said no injuries were reported at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach where Trump was golfing at the time of the incident.
Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the Secret Service, released a statement shortly thereafter.
“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m,” Guglielmi said.
“The former president is safe. @pbso will have more details soon.”
President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris “have been briefed about the security incident at the Trump International Golf Course,” according to a statement from the White House.
“They are relieved to know that he is safe,” the statement read. “They will be kept regularly updated by their team.”

The news comes roughly two months after the Republican presidential nominee was shot during an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
